Pyrolysis as an environmentally friendly and cost-effective waste tyres treatment technology
Section: News, Useful informationPyrolysis, thermal decomposition, is the used tyres treatment technology based on thermal destruction of feedstock under the high temperatures and lack of oxygen into the products with the smaller molecular weight: liquid pyrolysis oil, carbon black and metal.
The pyrolytic technology is capable to solve the problem of non-polluting waste management. Decomposition of tyres takes an average of 150 years in the natural environment, and is accompanied by a leaching of toxic organic compounds into the soil. However, most of the old tyres are stored at landfills, buried or burned. All these methods are not environmentally friendly. No residues that require disposal is left because of the pyrolysis process. The process outputs do not contain highly toxic substances; the combustion products are not released: emissions of harmful substances are below the specified requirements.
High quality products obtained during the process are the main advantage of the technology. Low-temperature pyrolysis decomposes the tires into commercial grade products, which can be used for other purposes.
Pyrolysis became the alternative technology for energy recovery that has minimum impact on the environment and is capable to generate both heat and electricity.
Pyrolysis of tyres is the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective waste treatment technology, which capable to process recyclables, obtain valuable materials and produce electricity.
