Pistachio waste to activated carbon test was successfully completed

Section: News

Crop residuePistachio waste to activated carbon test was successfully completed at the production site of IPEC at the end of June 2017. The commercial activated carbon was produced in two stages. At the first stage, 700 kg of shells was processed in TPD-2-200 continuous pyrolysis plant. At the second stage, the carbon from crop residue was activated by steam at temperatures of 900-1100°C during 15 minutes in additional reactor.

  • 230 kg of activated charcoal
  • 225 m3 of pyrolysis gas
  • 30 kg of liquid fuel oil
  • 145 kg of industrial water

were produced during thermal decomposition processing of 700 kg of crop residues.

The final product of the process, activated charcoal, was sent for analysis to an independent laboratory.
